old pride

Jeremy, Australia.

It’s insane how many of my decisions (or indecisions) are rooted in a fear of letting someone down.

Uproot myself, leave my amazing job, leave my house, move to Brisbane and pursue an Arts degree? Or stay in a country town and rot for another year?

That is the question.

You know what, I can over think everything and find a million ways to doubt myself. I’ve just come to realize that, we’re only here briefly. And while I’m here, I wanna allow myself joy. So fuck it.

He walked out in the gray light and stood and he saw for a brief moment the absolute truth of the world. The cold relentless circling of the intestate earth. Darkness implacable. The blind dogs of the sun in their running. The crushing black vacuum of the universe. And somewhere two hunted animals trembling like ground-foxes in their cover. Borrowed time and borrowed world and borrowed eyes with which to sorrow it.

Do you have a first date outfit I could borrow? Like, I don’t know, a pair of cargo pants? What about a sexy hat?

She knew that was not an honest prayer, and she did not linger over it. The right prayer would have been, Lord…I am miserable and bitter at heart, and old fears are rising up in me so that everything I do makes everything worse.
